In 2001, Irv and Andy Scolnick were in a conference
with a representative from a leading manufacturer in the respiratory industry. They were both asked what they thought about
bringing to their market a 10lb. portable oxygen concentrator for their patient’s.
As a result of that conference,
Seventh Street Medical Supply, Inc. President and CEO Irv Scolnick, was one of the first people in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
area to believe and invest in this portable oxygen concentrator before it even hit the market.
After seeing his
only sister pass away from an ongoing respiratory disease, and the difficulties she had doing her everyday activities, he
made it Seventh Street Medical Supply’s mission regardless of costs, to always have available the newest respiratory
equipment.
Irv Scolnick realized the need to implement and offer the 10lb. portable oxygen concentrators to the
respiratory community. He knew the retail price of this unit to purchase would not be feasible for the average patient on
a fixed income. He immediately made a decision to offer all of our local respiratory patients, regardless of their
insurance, this portable oxygen concentrator at no charge for special occasions, trips or unexpected
travels when tanks and home concentrators with the average weight of 50 pounds would just be too much to handle.
To this day, with insurance reimbursements dropping and technology and every day expenses rising, Irv Scolnick refuses to
put a price tag on this unit. It is used for our local respiratory patient’s when they have that special occasion, vacation,
or just a weekend getaway. We currently own a fleet of these portable oxygen concentrators.
It has has been over 9
years since the purchase of our first portable oxygen concentrator. Now with time, advanced technology, research and the demand
for POC's and homefill units, Seventh Street Medical Supply, Inc. has invested in the most up to date, reliable, portable
oxygen concentrators and homefill systems on the market today.
The SeQual eclipse, Inogen One, Invacare Homefill
and Chad Total 02, oxygen systems are no longer considered a respiratory "luxury item". These units are now recognized
by the insurance industry and are fully covered under most major insurance plans.
